In the 2007 PBA Draft held on August 19, 2007 at the Market! Market! in Taguig, Alaska picked Adamson stalwart, Ken Bono, and University of Visayas Green Lancers starting center, JR "Baby Shaq" Quiñahan as the 6th and 7th over-all picks of the PBA Draft in the 1st round. The team also grabbed PBL veteran Ardy Larong, as the 6th pick of the 2nd round and 16th over-all pick of the Draft.
After the draft, it was confirmed that Alaska traded veteran Nic Belasco to Welcoat in exchange for former DLSU Green Archer, Junjun Cabatu. Reports said that the reason behind the trade was Belasco was asking for more than the maximum PBA contract worth P350,000. Alaska, unfortunately, is already on the verge of exceeding the salary cap, with Mike Cortez, Jeffrey Cariaso, league MVP Willie Miller, and RP Team Member Tony Dela Cruz already receiving maximum salaries.
